Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, announced that a Merchantsauto.com Stadium record crowd of 8,762 attended tonight's Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game. The attendance shattered the previous mark of 8,227 fans for a Fisher Cats/Erie SeaWolves game on June 16, 2007.
"We want to thank the greatest fans in baseball for helping us make tonight an unforgettable night for everyone involved, from the players and coaching staffs to our special guests visiting from all over the Eastern League," said Fisher Cats owner Art Solomon. "Words cannot truly express how thankful we are for the incredible amount of effort put forth by our staff, which spent over a year planning for this two-day event and worked countless hours to help make it a reality."
"There are so many people to thank for making this event so memorable, including our faithful season ticket holders, our corporate partners, the city of Manchester and the entire state of New Hampshire for rallying around this event," said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "We are so proud of our staff for putting on such an outstanding show, and we can't thank our fans enough for their passion and their support." During the second inning of tonight's game, Travis Snider of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated Lou Montanez of the Bowie Baysox, 7-6, in the final round of the Irving Oil Home Run Derby. Snider won a $1,000 grand prize, courtesy of Irving Oil, and one lucky fan - Jerry Salvucci of Litchfield, NH- was the recipient of a $500 gas card from Irving Oil. Montanez, the runner-up, received $500 from Irving Oil, and another fan - Bill Leslie of Madbury, NH- received a $250 gas card from Irving Oil.
The Fisher Cats open a series against the New Britain Rock Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, Thursday night at 7:05pm. Thursday night is Amoskeag European Auto Military Appreciation Night. The first 2,000 fans in attendance at Merchantsauto.com Stadium receive free, limited-edition D.A.V baseball cards.
