(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit forward Joe Pleckaitis has been invited to attend the
NHL Chicago Blackhawks prospect camp, which runs from July 7th through July 11th.Pleckaitis is a 1989-born forward entering his 4th season in the Ontario Hockey League. He was drafted by the Ottawa 67's and spent parts of two seasons there before being traded to the Barrie Colts. He was traded to the Spirit in the early part of the 2007-2008 regular season. In 64 games he notched 6 goals and 15 assists.
Joining Pleckaitis at Chicago's camp is former Spirit player Patrick Asselin (Oshawa), Richard Greenop (Windsor), Adam Perry (Belleville), Andrew Wilkins (London), Shawn Lalonde (Belleville), Sebastian Dahm (Niagara) and Josh Unice (Kitchener).
Defenseman Joe Underwood was recently invited to attend the St. Louis Blues development camp. The Spirit could potentially see other members of its team invited to NHL camps - stay tuned to Saginawspirit.com for more information!
The National Hockey League recently hosted its annual entry draft in Ottawa, Ontario. Defenseman Adam Comrie was selected by the Florida Panthers, defenseman T.J. Brodie was selected by the Calgary Flames and defenseman Nick Crawford was selected by the Buffalo Sabres.
