New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - After having its undefeated streak snapped at seven games in a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake last Saturday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium, the New England Revolution (8-4-3, 27 pts.) will look to return to its winning ways when the club hosts Eastern Conference rival Toronto FC (6-4-3, 21 pts.) on Saturday, June 28, at Gillette Stadium. The game will be televised regionally on TV38 beginning at 7:30 p.m., while radio listeners can catch the action live on the WEEI Radio Network.
Despite their recent loss to Salt Lake, the Revs currently stand atop the MLS and Eastern Conference standings, as they have since May 24. Additionally, if New England defeats TFC in Saturday night's match, the Revolution's coaching staff will lead the MLS All-Stars against English Premier League side West Ham United on Thursday, July 24, at Toronto's BMO Field. If the Revs draw with the Reds, they will need Columbus to lose or draw with Colorado on Saturday night in order for Steve Nicol and company to be named the All-Star staff, while a loss eliminates New England's coaching staff from All-Star contention.
The Revs won the 2007 season series - the first-ever between the two clubs - in emphatic fashion, going 2-0-1 and outscoring Toronto, 9-2. New England opened with a pair of shutout wins at Gillette Stadium, defeating the Reds, 4-0, on April 14, and 3-0, on June 23. Toronto erased a two-goal second-half deficit to earn a 2-2 draw in the teams' most recent meeting on Oct. 20 at BMO Field.
