Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (June 23, 2008) - The Burlington Bees continued their hot start of the second half with a 4-1 victory over Peoria at Community Field Monday night. Adrian Ortiz had three hits while Danny Duffy pitched seven scoreless innings to pick up his third win of the season. The Bees are now 4-1 in the second half.

The scoring began in the third inning for the Bees. Jamar Walton led the inning off with a walk and moved to second on a Ryan Eigsti single. Adrian Ortiz then hit a single that moved both runners up and a Peoria error allowed Walton to score and both Eigsti and Ortiz to move up another base. Johnny Giavotella then singled both Eigsti and Walton in to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.

The Chiefs scored one run in the top of the eighth inning when Josh Donaldson hit a leadoff homerun. The Bees answered the run in the bottom of the inning. Ortiz led the inning off with a triple and scored on a Mike Moustakas sacrifice fly.

Danny Duffy picked up his third win of the season by pitching seven scoreless innings. Duffy tied a season high with eight strikeouts and did not issue any walks. Juan Abreu pitched two innings allowing just the homerun to pick up his third save of the season. Ortiz was the only Bee with more than one hit as he went 3-4 with two runs scored.

The Bees and Peoria Chiefs continue the series Tuesday night. Alex Caldera is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is set for 7:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. Tickets are available and can be purchased online at www.GoBees.com or by visiting Community Field.
