Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires today hosted a special press conference at Windsor Arena to announce that Mike Miller has signed a one year contract to serve as the Spits new Play-by-Play Announcer on AM800 CKLW and will also work as a Corporate Radio Sales Executive for the team.
Miller will announce all of the Spitfires home and road games for the upcoming season and brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked as a Play-by-Play Announcer for more than 20 seasons and over 1700 games in the professional ranks, including nine seasons with the New Jersey Devils (1993-2002).
Mike served as the Vice-President and General Manager of the Toledo Storm in the ECHL from 2002 to 2006. The organization assembled by Miller posted a record of 157-100-31. Miller spent the 06-07 campaign with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets working in the business development department. More recently Mike served as the General Manager of the Chicago Hounds of the IHL. Mike will continue to host Face-Off the Hockey Show and Friday Night Drive Time with Mike Miller on ESPN radio in Toledo. Miller will assign a fill in host for both shows when the Spitfires are scheduled to play.
The Spitfires are also pleased to announce that Steve Bell and Paul McDonald of AM800 CKLW will be hosting a special pre-game show before each Windsor Spitfire home game.
"We are very excited to bring in a broadcaster of Mike's caliber and experience. Our fans will enjoy the coverage that he will provide for the entire season. Mike is a huge addition to our team and will also head our corporate radio sales efforts for the upcoming year. His knowledge in this field will be a tremendous asset to our hockey club and we are honoured to hire a top notch professional in Mike Miller," said Windsor Spitfires President and Head Coach Bob Boughner.
"The Spits have assembled an awesome team on the ice and now an equally impressive team in the broadcast booth. Not only does Mike Miller have experience broadcasting NHL games, he has a multifaceted hockey background too. He's the exact combination of marketing skills and broadcast experience the Spits' Ownership group was looking for. Also, for our Pre-Game shows at home, you can't beat the pairing of Steve Bell and Paul McDonald. They've both been involved in OHL hockey for many years, know the league inside and out and are extremely dedicated. The content of the home Pre-Game shows will definitely be our best ever. And we're working on some other Spitfire projects with Steve and Paul too.....stay tuned," said AM800 CKLW Program Director Keith Chinnery.
