Padres Recall Stansberry; Hensley Optioned To Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - The San Diego Padres today recalled Portland infielder Craig Stansberry and placed infielder Tadahito Iguchi on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder separation. Additionally, the Padres reinstated right-handed pitcher Clay Hensley from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Portland.

Stansberry is hitting .232 (43-for-185) with 10 doubles, one triple, four home runs, 19 RBIs and 28 runs scored in 51 games for Portland this year. The 26-year-old made his major league debut with the Padres on August 25, 2007, and finished 2-for-7 with one RBI and one run scored in 11 games with San Diego last season.

In parts of two seasons with the Beavers (2007-08), Stansberry is batting .261 with 18 home runs, 43 doubles, four triples, 99 walks, 94 RBIs and 111 RBIs in 175 games.

Hensley, 28, was originally placed on the Padres disabled list with a right shoulder strain on March 26 (retroactive to March 21). He has worked a combined 18.0 innings between Class A Lake Elsinore and Portland, posting a 3.50 ERA (7er) in 11 rehabilitation appearances (4 starts) this season.

In parts of three seasons with Portland (2005; 2007-08), Hensley is 4-10 with a 4.54 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 38 appearances (31 starts).

The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
