RedHawks Sign NDSU's Zimmerman

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed OF/C Kole Zimmerman to a contract, the Northern League club announced today. The RedHawks have also released OF Dustin Miles, who joined the RedHawks last week. Zimmerman will join the RedHawks tonight as they open a three-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at CanWest Park in Winnipeg, MB at 7:00 p.m.

Zimmerman, 24, completed his college career with the North Dakota State University baseball team this weekend. He finished his senior campaign batting .279 with 11 doubles, six home runs, 21 RBIs and 29 runs scored in 45 games. He is the all-time leader in games played (193), at bats (679) and doubles (47) in Bison baseball history. Zimmerman batted .277 with 47 doubles, seven triples, 14 home runs, 117 RBIs and 107 runs scored in 193 career games with NDSU.

Zimmerman, a Windom, MN native, was also a four-year letter-winner for the NDSU football team and was an All-Great West Football Conference linebacker and a second team Academic All-American in 2005.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Home Opener is set for Friday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m., sponsored by The HUB. Just over 1,000 tickets remain for the game, which will feature the last two Northern League Champions, the RedHawks and the Gary SouthShore RailCats. In addition, there will be a post-game fireworks show to cap off a great evening of baseball.
