Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

The Kansas City Royals transferred Naturals catcher and Fayetteville resident Cody Clark to the Triple-A Omaha Royals, the Kansas City Royals affiliate in the Pacific Coast League. The O-Royals had an immediate need for a catcher after their primary catcher, Matt Tupman, was suddenly recalled to Kansas City to fill the roster spot of Major League starting catcher John Buck, who had to leave the team for the birth of his child. Clark, 26, was batting .225 in 17 games for the Naturals this season with three homers and six RBI. The defensive-minded backstop had his best game as a Natural on Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBI in the Naturals 7-4 win over the Tulsa Drillers. Clark will be in uniform for Omaha tonight for their series at Albuquerque.

In a related transaction, left-hander Paul Mildren has returned to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals from Omaha. Mildren began the season with the Naturals before receiving the promotion to Triple-A on April 22nd. He will be in uniform tonight and will make the start in tonight's game against the Arkansas Travelers.

Mildren made five appearances out of the Naturals bullpen to start 2008, posting a 1-2 record and a 2.53 ERA. He made four relief appearances in Omaha, posting no record and a 2.70 ERA. Mildren, a 24-year old from Adelaide, Australia, has been a starter for most of his professional career and spent the entire season last year at the Triple-A level as a starter with the Albuquerque Isotopes prior to being acquired by the Royals in August of 2007.

Mildren will wear #2 with the Naturals this evening.

These moves are effective beginning with tonight's game in North Little Rock with the Arkansas Travelers. Game one of the third round of the Arkansas Diamond Series has been pushed back to 7:45 PM tonight, due to a pre-game on-field entertainment act at Dickey Stephens Ballpark. The Naturals return to Springdale on Wednesday night to begin a six-game homestand against the Midland RockHounds and Frisco Roughriders.

The Naturals roster continues to stand at the Texas League limit of 24 active players.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. The Naturals have a toll-free ticket hotline (1-877-444-2637) for fans to purchase Naturals tickets. Our website also offers fans the opportunity to purchase tickets online and avoid lines at the ticket windows by printing their tickets at home or at the office.
