B.C. Lions News Release

(Vancouver) With 2008 BC Lions Training Camp just 25 days away, GM and head coach Wally Buono along with director of player personnel Roy Shivers, player personnel coordinator Neil McEvoy and quarterbacks coach Steff Kruck will be in Atlanta this Friday and Las Vegas on Sunday in search of free agent talent.

"Our focus among other things is finding a fourth quarterback for camp," said Buono. "We're going to have an opportunity to take a look at two kids we have on our negotiation list right now and from what we have seen so far on film they are pretty gifted athletes."

Marcus Randall, who played at LSU will be one of the participants looking to punch his ticket to camp. Along the lines of the Toronto Argonauts' Kerry Joseph, Randall signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans, who tried to convert him to safety and later to linebacker before releasing him in 2006. Randall also spent time with the Green Bay Packers in 2007.

Randall is best known among college football fans from the 2002 "Blue Grass Miracle" in which he threw a game-winning TD pass in LSU's win over Kentucky. The play would go on to win an ‘ESPY' as ESPN's Play of the Year.

Omar Haugabook will also get some attention in Atlanta as the former two-year starting pivot from Troy State looks to get the call to Abbotsford in late May. The Belle Glade, Florida native certainly made his mark in just two campaigns at Troy after earning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year honours in 2006 as well as a First Team All-Conference spot and an MVP performance in the New Orleans Bowl.

Last year, Haugabook rolled up 2975 passing yards and 18 TD's on 291 completions. The shifty signal caller also ran the ball for 631 yards on 155 carries and added 11 TD's of his own.

BC Lions Rookie Camp will begin on Thursday May 29th in Abbotsford and run through Saturday, May 31st with the entire squad hitting the field on Sunday, June 1st. Click here for more information on 2008 BC Lions Training Camp.
