SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries will wrap-up their 2008 exhibition schedule with a game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Monday night at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Cinco de Mayo game is scheduled for a 5:55 p.m. start.

The Canaries are thus far undefeated in the exhibition season. The team opened the exhibition schedule with a 5-3 win over Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell on April 28. The following evening, the Birds beat the Sioux City Explorers in Yankton, 13-9. The only game that didn't result in a win for the Canaries, was a 4-4 tie against the Ibaraki (Japan) Golden Golds on April 30 in Sioux Falls. After having their May 2 exhibition in Huron rained out, the Canaries won their most recent game, an 11-9 victory over the Sioux City Explorers in Crofton, NE.

"While it is always fun to win ballgames, the exhibition season is really about getting ready for Opening Day," said Canaries Manager Steve Shirley. "I think we've done that, and getting to win in the process has made it fun."

The Canaries look for one more exhibition win in Monday's "Battle of the Dakotas" against the Northern League's Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The teams met in the 2007 exhibition season, with the RedHawks winning 5-3 in a darkness shortened game at Memorial Park Stadium in Huron, SD.

The Sioux Falls Canaries will open the 2008 American Association season on May 8 with a visit to the defending champion Fort Worth Cats. The Canaries home opener is on Tuesday, May 13, when the club will host the Pensacola Pelicans in their "Season Premier" featuring a post-game fireworks display presented by First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard.
