Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Halifax Mooseheads' General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today that the team has re-signed head coach Cam Russell to a two-year extension, keeping the Cole Harbour native behind the Halifax bench for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons.

At the same time, the team has begun negotiations with Assistant Coaches Donnelly and Jeff MacLeod, along with Goaltenders' Coach Patrick Dallaire for one-year extensions to their current contracts.

In another move, winger Daniel Smith has informed the team that he will not be returning to the Mooseheads for the 2008-2009 season, opting instead to attend university in San Diego, California to pursue a business degree.

"We would like to wish Daniel all the best in his new endeavour," Patenaude said. "During his stay in Halifax, he was a very positive influence and was very popular with his teammates".

"We are pleased to confirm the return of our coaching staff. Having Cam and his assistants behind the bench ensures continuity as we progress with a younger team next season."
