Stamps Sign Challenger
April 24, 2008 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach/general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of receiver Kevin Challenger, the club's second-round pick of the 2007 Canadian Football League Draft.
Challenger spent the past five years at Boston College and was a starter for the past two seasons. The Stamps selected Challenger prior to his senior campaign with the 14th overall pick of the 2007 Draft. He helped lead the Eagles to a Citrus Bowl win in December and was a starter for most of the past two seasons.
"Kevin is a quick, athletic receiver," said Hufnagel. "I had the opportunity to see him first-hand in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl. I watched him at practice, talked to him and got a good feel for him. The coaches all gave him great reports and I came away impressed. He has a reputation of being a guy you can count on to make the clutch catch. He did it throughout his career at Boston College."
Challenger, 25, is five-foot-eight and weighs 177 pounds. He's from Montreal and is a product of Vanier College.
