D.C. United News Release
D.C. United Academy results: United's U-18 squad battled MatchFit Academy in New Jersey on March 29, squeaking by with a 1-0 win on the strength of a Matt Oduaran tally. Oduaran converted a pk on Sunday and the 18s emerged with a 1-1 draw against PDA in a game also played in New Jersey. The D.C. United U-16 side also played on Saturday, outscoring MatchFit 3-1. Marcus Douglas scored twice and Michael Burgos once for United. Sunday did not fare as well for the Black-and-Red 16s, who lost to PDA 0-2.
"We had two strong performances from both our U16s and U18s on Saturday against Match Fit Academy," said United Director of Youth Development John Maessner. "We struggled to match the quality from Saturday's games as both teams fought fatigue and travel in Sunday's weaker performances."
Both teams have a 3-1-2 record on the season and will face the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, April 5 at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, before traveling to Maryland to battle the Baltimore Bays on Sunday.
Super Y-League Team - U-20 boys: D.C. United will enter a U-20 team in the 2008 USL Super Y-League. This team will consist of players born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, and D.C. United is looking for players to represent the team. The club will be announcing tryout dates soon.
