Hessler, Velemirovich Honored By SPHL

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that defenseman Corey Hessler and forward Tim Velemirovich have both been named to the All-SPHL second team.

Hessler, the FireAntz' Player/Assistant Coach, hails from Mendota Heights, Minnesota. The veteran defenseman compiled 42 points on nine goals and 33 assists. He was 2nd in scoring, amongst defensemen, in the SPHL.

Velemirovich, an alternate captain for the club, is from Thompson, Manitoba. This is the second consecutive All-SPHL selection for the 2006-07 Rookie of the Year. This season, in 52 games played, Velemirovich netted 23 goals and 48 assists for a team-leading 71 points. He was the 4th leading scorer in the SPHL.

The FireAntz will host Game 1 of the SPHL playoffs on Friday, March 28th at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville. Their opponent is the Richmond Renegades and it is a best-of-three series. Game 3 of the series, if necessary, would be on Tuesday, April 1st also at the Crown Coliseum.
