Durand Joins Moose

Saskatoon Blades overage forward Chris Durand has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League, the affiliate club of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.

The announcement was made official at Monday night's Northridge Developments Awards Banquet where Durand picked up two awards in the Brian Skrudland Trophy as the team's best defensive forward and the Jackie McLeod Ambassador award, given to an overage player who demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities to his entire team.

The 6'2", 194 lbs. forward joined the Blades at the start of the 2007/08 season from the Prince George Cougars. The Saskatoon, SK native was one of five local players on the team this year. Durand finished the season as the Blades 3rd leading scorer, recording 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points in 62 games.

Durand will leave for Manitoba early on Tuesday morning.
