Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
Gary, Ind.- Following a productive 2007 season, outfielder Mike Reese was rewarded for his efforts as he has signed on for his second season with the defending Northern League Champion Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club.
Reese, who is entering his fifth professional season, played a valuable role last year manager Greg Tagert, as he hit .280 with five homeruns and 31 runs batted in his 59 games played. 32 of his starts came as designated hitter, while he also spent 12 games in left field, two in right, and one in center.
U.S. Steel Yard was truly home for the Orland, Florida native, as he batted .307 at home. Reese, who is a career .302 hitter, will supply some much-needed power to the RailCats' lineup as he finished second on the team behind Nate Price's six homeruns from a year ago with five homers.
The RailCats begin defense of their 2007 Northern League title on May 15th when they host Joliet in the 2008 season opener. Call (219) 882-2255 for ticket information.
