Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos announced today they have signed free agent import quarterback Brett Elliott, who attended 2007 training camp with the San Diego Chargers. Elliott originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2006 and was on their practice squad for four games before being released. The Chargers later assigned Elliott to NFL Europe where he played for the Rhein Fire.
Elliott was a stand-out quarterback at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon where he led the Wildcats to a perfect 13-0 season and a national title as a junior. That season he threw the most passing touchdowns in a season (61) than any other quarterback in college history at any level. He also won the Melberger award as the Top Division III player in the country. He set 31 school passing and total offense records, including single game passing yards (528), single-season passing yards (4,595) and career passing yards (8,614). Elliott began his college career at Utah before transferring to Linfield for his final two seasons. He attended Lake Oswego High School in Oregon.
