SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Saint John Sea Dogs announced today that throughout the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Canada, the team will be partnering with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in a special fund-raising initiative.

During the Sea Dogs' pre-game warm-up at the team's first five home games in October, players will be wearing custom-made pink jerseys in accordance with the official colour of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

At the Sea Dogs' second-last home game of the month, an October 27 contest versus St. John's, all 22 pink Sea Dogs jerseys will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

"We're very excited about this special endeavour," said Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. "The Sea Dogs have always been a franchise that believes in giving back to the community, and we hope that this project will help raise awareness as well as monetary funds for a very worthy cause."

The first game in which the Sea Dogs will be donning their special pink jerseys during warm-up will be this Saturday, October 6 against the Quebec Remparts. The other games in which the team will be sporting the charity-inspired sweaters are: Oct. 14 vs. Acadie-Bathurst, Oct. 20 vs. Gatineau, Oct. 21 vs. Rimouski, and Oct. 27 vs. St. John's.
