
Sea Dogs Acquire Forward Scott Howes From Voltigeurs

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that the team has acquired 20-year old forward Scott Howes from the Drummondville Voltigeurs in exchange for two draft picks; Drummondville receives both a fourth and ninth round selection at the 2008 QMJHL Entry Draft from Saint John in the trade
"We're very happy to be adding Scott to our roster," said Beaulieu. "He's a smart, talented player that does a lot of things well and we really think that he'll be a strong addition to our club."
In seven games with the Voltigeurs this season, Howes, a native of Toronto, ON, has tallied 1G-5A-6P-15PIM. Last year, his first in the QMJHL, Howes played in 47 games for Drummondville, registering 25G-17A-42P in addition to 53PIM. In 2005-06. the 5'11", 190 lb. left wing skated for the Wexford Raiders (OPJHL), scoring 15 goals and adding 16 assists for 31 points in 42 games.
The Sea Dogs (4-2) are currently on a three-game winning streak after having defeated the Moncton Wildcats by a score of 3-2 this past Saturday night at Harbour Station. Saint John next hits the ice this coming Friday, October 5, for a road contest against the 4-2 Halifax Mooseheads. The following night, the Sea Dogs return to Harbour Station for a 7:00pm match versus the Quebec Remparts on Saturday, October 6.
