Grizzlies Stay Hot With Fourth Straight Win
August 21, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA - Make it four in a row for the Fresno Grizzlies now, as the host team took their third straight game over the Salt Lake Bees, this time in a 6-4 victory.
Fresno starter Matt Kinney won his seventh straight game and his fifth straight start as he improved to 11-9 on the season, tying the Pacific Coast League leader for most wins this season.
Supporting Kinney was a Grizzlies (68-62) offense that hit yet another six extra-base hits, including two home runs. Salt Lake (67-62) starter and former Grizzlies pitcher Pedro Liriano (4-12) took the loss for the Bees, giving up five runs in five innings pitched.
Fresno's Nate Schierholtz and Tomas De La Rosa were responsible for the long balls for the Grizzlies, as they hit their 13th and ninth homers of the season, respectively. De La Rosa also had a double and a triple for Fresno, coming up just a single shy of the cycle. It was also the second time in as many nights De La Rosa missed the cycle by a hit.
With the promotion of former Grizzlies closer Brian Wilson, Fresno's Tyler Walker has now stepped into the role, picking up his fourth save of the season.
The Grizzlies are in position to sweep an opposing team for the fourth time this season as they have defeated the Bees in each of the first three games so far this series. Fresno also leads the season series 8-3.
Grizzlies fans have only one chance left to catch their hometown team. Tuesday night's home schedule finale will be a huge thank you to the fans, as Express Jet presents a massive Fan Appreciation Day and postgame Fireworks show. Also, the last Tecate Taco Tuesday of the year will offer $2 tacos all game long and $2 16 oz. Tecate beers through the 5th inning (sponsored by Tecate and 95.7 The Fox).
Tickets are available at the Chukchansi Park ticket office, over the phone at 559-320-TIXS, or online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
