
Sidewinders Take 3 of 4 From Sky Sox With 7-3 Victory

Tucson, AZ - Tucson concluded a four game homestand with a 7-3 win over Colorado Springs. Tucson starter, LHP Greg Smith, went six scoreless innings in the win. He allowed 7 hits and a walk while fanning 8. He also picked off 2 batters.
The Sidewinders got the scoring going early with 5 runs in the bottom of the first. The team loaded the bases with one out and 3B Matt Erickson at the plate. Erickson singled in one run. Two batters later, with the bags still juiced, LF Jarred Ball hit his first home run of the year on a 1-1 pitch - a grand slam to right. Sky Sox starter, RHP Bobby Keppel, threw 28 pitches in the first inning.
LHP Greg Smith struck out the side for the Sidewinders in the top of the second and picked off his second runner of the game in the third.
The Sidewinders extended their lead to 6-0 with a run in the bottom of the fifth when a single by C Jaime D'Antona singled in a run.
RHP Chad Harville came in to relieve Smith in the top of the seventh and got the first two batters out before getting tagged for three runs by the Sky Sox.
Tucson added a run in the eighth with a solo home run by D'Antona to put the final score at 7-3.
