Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING- There's home field advantage, and then there's the Lansing Lugnuts on a Molson Thirsty Thursday. The Lugnuts ran their record this season to 11-1 on Molson Thirsty Thursday by edging the Fort Wayne Wizards 3-2 before 8,993 fans at Oldsmobile Park.

Travis Snider was the only man to cross the plate for Lansing in the game, scoring for the first time in the first when Matt Liuzza drove him home with a single to center field that put Lansing on top 1-0.

The Lugnuts would make it a 2-0 game in the fourth on Sean Shoffit's sacrifice fly to center that brought Snider home from third.

The run support was enough for Kyle Ginley (6-6), who rebounded from his last start to throw seven innings. He allowed just one run, which came in the sixth for Fort Wayne on a Tom King RBI double. Ginley also fanned five and did not walk anyone.

Lansing extended the lead to 3-1 in the eighth, getting an insurance run when Chris Emanuele's single scored Snider for the third time.

The run turned out to be big for the Lugnuts, as King blasted a solo homer to start the ninth for Fort Wayne. However the Wizards were shut down by Ben Harrison, who came in to retire the final two batters and notch his second save.

Cory Leubke (0-2) took the loss for the Wizards. He threw well, allowing just two runs, one of which was earned, on four hits over six innings.

Lansing (64-57, 29-23) and Fort Wayne (48-72, 17-34) will finish the brief two game series on Friday night. Ray Gonzalez (6-6, 3.74) will go to the hill for the Lugnuts. He will be opposed by the Wizards' Stephen Faris (7-7, 4.37).
