Frank Kremblas, Stan Kyles To Coach In All-Star Futures Game

Nashville Sounds manager Frank Kremblas and pitching coach Stan Kyles have been announced as members of the U.S. Team coaching staff for the 2007 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 8 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

It is the second career assignment for each: Kremblas was a coach for the U.S. team in the 2003 Futures Game while Kyles served as a coach for the U.S. team in last year's contest.

The XM All-Star Futures Game will feature the top Minor League prospects competing against each other as part of Taco Bell® All-Star Sunday at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Sunday, July 8th at 1:00 p.m. (PDT). The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

Taco Bell® All-Star Sunday is the first of three days of All-Star events at AT&T Park in San Francisco, culminating with the 78th All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 10th.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the 30 Major League Clubs, MLB.com and Baseball America, selected the 25-man rosters for each club, the U.S. Team and the World Team. Each Major League organization is represented and the World Team features players from 11 different countries and territories. Players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.

No players from the Nashville Sounds were selected to participate in the game, but one Double-A player will represent the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2007 Futures Game: shortstop Alcides Escobar, who opened the season with Advanced-A Brevard County before a recent promotion to Class AA Huntsville.

In addition to Kremblas and Kyles, two additional Futures Game coaches have Nashville ties. Indianapolis skipper Trent Jewett, the winningest manager in Sounds history (320 victories), and Sacramento manager Tony DeFrancesco, who played for Nashville for parts of three seasons from 1998-91, will be members of the World Team coaching staff.

Hall of Famers Juan Marichal and Dave Winfield will manage the World Team and U.S. Team, respectively. Marichal was a nine-time N.L. All-Star and won the 1965 Midsummer Classic Most Valuable Player Award. Winfield was a member of 12 consecutive All-Star teams from 1977-88 with the San Diego Padres and the New York Yankees.
