Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
ALBANY, NY - 'Dogs Goaltender Jaroslav Halak stopped all of the 27 shots he faced, leading the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 1-0 shutout triumph over the Albany River Rats on Wednesday night at Pepsi Arena. The victory was the Bulldogs first road-win of the season and improved Hamilton's overall record to 3-6-0-0.
The lone goal of the hockey game came at 8:29 of the first period when 'Dogs forward Ajay Baines registered his third goal of the season. Baines took a wrist-shot from the slot that fooled River Rats goaltender Justin Peters and found the back of the net to make the score 1-0. Rookies Mathieu Aubin and Kyle Chipchura earned assists on the goal.
Jaroslav Halak picked up his fourth career shutout and moved into a tie for sixth place with former Bulldogs goaltender Mathieu Garon amongst Hamilton's all-time shutout leaders. River Rats netminder Justin Peters was near perfect as well, making 37 saves on 38 shots in a losing effort.
Special teams again played a large role in the outcome of a Bulldogs game this season. Although Hamilton was unable to score on the power play going 0-for-8 with the extra-man, their penalty killing was a perfect 8-for-8, including fending off two third-period 5-on-3 advantages for Albany.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the Syracuse Crunch at Copps Coliseum. Tickets for all 'Dogs home games (except home game #32) are available at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or through charge-by-phone at 905-527-7666.
Fans can listen to every 'Dogs game this season on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, 820 CHAM "The Legend," beginning with the Park's Furniture Pre-Game Show 20 minutes prior to each scheduled game time.
