WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the club has signed rookie defenseman Tom Walsh to an American Hockey League contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were undisclosed.
The 23-year-old Walsh made his professional debut in a 4-3 shootout against the Portland Pirates on October 6. The 6-foot, 200-pound Arlington, Mass. native notched his first professional point with an assist on a Tomas Plihal tally against the Lowell Devils on October 15.
The Harvard graduate played four seasons with the Crimson and recorded 40 points (9+31=40) in 125 games played.
Walsh has been reassigned to the Fresno Falcons (ECHL) by the San Jose Sharks (NHL). Fresno is the ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and Worcester Sharks (AHL).
Worcester will next travel to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday to take on the Providence Bruins at 7:05 p.m.
On Saturday, the Sharks return home to take on the Lowell Devils at the DCU Center for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Sharks poster schedule.
