St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints today signed OF Chaz Lytle to a 2006 contract. The 25-year old Floridian has played in the Pittsburgh system since he was drafted in the 42nd round out of the University of Georgia in 2002.
A career .294 hitter in 347 games (mostly at the Class A level), Lytle's best season was 2003 when he led the South Atlantic League in batting average with a .331 mark for Hickory. He has 74 career stolen bases and has fanned just 163 times in 1225 official plate appearances.
He is expected to be in uniform when the Saints, who railed North Division leader Lincoln by 3 ½ games with seven to play in the first half race, wrap up a four-game series with Sioux City tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Midway Stadium. St. Paul then hosts Pensacola for a three-game series starting Tuesday night. Pensacola is also involved in a tight race, trailing South Division leader Coastal Bend by a mere ½ game entering the final week of play.
St. Paul finishes up the first half of the schedule this weekend with a three-game series at Lincoln.
