MOBILE, AL- Juan Ciriaco?s single in the ninth inning broke a 1-1 tie and gave the BayBears a 2-1 win Monday. Mobile has now won four straight games, and beat Birmingham with a game-ending hit for the second straight day. Jared Wells pitched seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits. Paul Abraham (1-3) was the winning pitcher after throwing a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The BayBears had a fourth inning home run by Stephen Smitherman to tie the game. It was Smitherman?s third home run with the BayBears. Kennard Jones went down from the leadoff spot to third, and went 2-for-4 in the win. The BayBears have now won 8 of their last 12 games.
Mobile and Birmingham play at Hank Aaron Stadium Monday at 7:05. Roger Deago (4-3) pitches for Mobile against Birmingham?s Tyler Lumsden (6-1). All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 18, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
