Last night the Pirates claimed a 5-2 victory against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Atlantic Division Champion Pirates have now reached the 50 win mark for the first time in franchise history.

During last night's game against the Sound Tigers, Zack Maroon (left) of Scarborough won Olympia Sports Kid's Score-O. Celebrating his 10th birthday, Maroon shot the puck through the center hole while playing Olympia Sports Kid's Score-O. As a result of his accomplishment, he wins a three or four night Bahamas Cruise for two adults and one child courtesy of Hurley Travel Experts.

Today, Dustin Penner was named the WJAB/Pirates Player of the Week. This past week the Winkler, Manitoba native, scored 2 goals and 2 assists and was +4 and now leads the league in plus/minus (+41). Penner will join the "The Morning Jab" on WJAB 1440AM/95.5FM on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Tonight the AHL Coach of the Year, Kevin Dineen will join Rob Caldwell and Kathleen Shannon on 207 on WCSH-6. The program starts at 7:00 p.m.

The Pirates return to action on Wednesday night in Lowell against the Lock Monsters at 7:05 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on the internet by visiting www.portlandpirates.com or listen to the game on the U.S. Cellular, "Big Jab" Pirates Radio Network on WLOB 1310AM, 1220AM ESPN Radio, WTME 780AM and WKTQ 1450AM.

LAST WEEK

On Tuesday, the Pirates announced that Curtis Glencross was named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Portland community during the 2005-06 Season.

On Wednesday, the American Hockey League announced the 2005-2006 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted by the AHL players and media in each of the leagues 27 member cities. Pirates forward Ryan Shannon was selected as one of six players who earned the honor.

The American Hockey League announced Thursday that Pirates left wing Dustin Penner has been named a Second Team All-Star.

The American Hockey League announced Friday that Kevin Dineen of the Portland Pirates has been named the winner of the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL's outstanding coach for the 2005-06 season, as voted by members of the media in each of the league's 27 cities.

Dustin Penner extended his point-scoring streak to nine games. The Pirates have clinched home ice advantage in the first two rounds of the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs and will play host to either the Providence Bruins or the Manchester Monarchs in the best-of-seven first round series of the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs.
