Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
Hidalgo, Texas - Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees center Daymen Bencharski has been named a starter for the Southern Conference All-Star Team as selected through balloting among CHL coaches, public relations/broadcasting staffs and selected media members in each CHL city. The 2006 Obra Homes CHL All-Star Game is being hosted by the Valley Killer Bees on January 18 at Dodge Arena.
"I wasn't expecting to be named a starter," said Bencharski. "It's a tremendous honor, but I couldn't have done it without my linemates or the rest of the team."
Bencharski is tied for the team scoring lead (16-16-32) and leads the Bees with eight power play goals and three game-winners. The second-year pro out of Ohio State has posted two natural hat tricks this season and, along with fellow Bee Trevor Weisgerber, is among the top 15 in CHL scoring.
"It's a great honor for Daymen as well as for the whole team," said added Killer Bees head coach Tracy Egeland.
The remainder of the All-Star team members for both conferences will be announced on Tuesday, January 3, as selected by Northern Conference Coach Chris Stewart of the Colorado Eagles and Southern Conference Coach Terry Ruskowski of the Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations Department.
