D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (November 8, 2005) - U.S. Soccer today named D.C. United's Brian Carroll, Ben Olsen and Santino Quaranta to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for Saturday's (Nov. 12) friendly with Scotland. The game will be played in Glasgow, Scotland and is set for an 11 a.m. (ET) kickoff on Fox Soccer Channel. The U.S. team has collected its highest-ever win total in 2005, with a record of 13-3-3.

Carroll made his first-ever appearance with the full Men's National Team last month in the club's World Cup qualifying finale, a 2-0 win over Panama on October 12. The 24-year old started and played the full match. Carroll was the only United player to see time in every regular season match during 2005. He notched his first career goal and three assists during the season.

Olsen made four appearances for the U.S. during its Gold Cup championship run, including two starts. During his career, Olsen has made 26 total appearances, which included 10 appearances during 2000. He was on the field 23 times for the Black-and-Red (22 starts), while contributing two goals and four assists during the 2005 campaign.

Quaranta has made eight total appearances for the U.S. Men in 2005, primarily on the right side of midfield. He saw time in four games during the team's Gold Cup championship run and has seen the field in four World Cup qualifiers, which included going the full 90 in the final match versus Panama. Quaranta made 18 appearances for United in 2005, and was third on the team with five goals, while notching five assists.

The U.S. is one of 32 finalists that will compete in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The Draw to determine group pairings will take place Dec. 9 in Leipzig, Germany. The USA has chosen the northern port city of Hamburg as its base of operations in Germany.
