Checkers hire athletic trainer and equipment manager

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Derek Wilkinson, Head Coach and General Manager of the Charlotte Checkers, announced today that the team has hired Brandon Dionne as the team's athletic trainer and Adam Dexter as the team's equipment manager.
Dionne comes to the Checkers after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals of the UHL for the past two years. Dionne began his career in sports serving as an intern/assistant trainer and assistant equipment manager with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL during the 2002-03 season.
Dionne has also served as the Head Trainer for the Elmira Pioneers baseball team of the Can-Am League. A 2003 graduate of Springfield College (Mass.), he played four years of collegiate hockey for the SC Pride as a goaltender. Dionne is originally from East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
"Working with a good organization like Charlotte, Hartford and the Rangers is a great opportunity for me," said Dionne.
Dexter joins the Checkers staff after serving as the Head Equipment Manager for the University of Alaska-Anchorage hockey program for the past two years.
"I'm really excited to work in the ECHL," said Dexter. "I've heard great things about the team and Charlotte seems like a perfect fit for me."
The Charlotte Checkers open their 13th season in the ECHL Friday, October 21st at Gwinnett. The Checkers are Bound for Uptown as they open their home schedule Sunday, November 6th in their new home at New Charlotte Arena against Greenville.
