
Salmon Kings sign Gare

Victoria, BC - Victoria Salmon Kings Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell inked another forward Thursday with the signing of Vernon, BC native Lanny Gare. Lanny comes to the Salmon Kings with rich hockey blood lines.
"We are thrilled to sign Lanny," said Head Coach and General Manager Bryan Maxwell, "he is the third left-winger we have signed in the last two days and he is a player that will add an offensive element to our game, he can score, he brings some grit and he's a Hobey Baker finalist."
The 27-year-old played four years in the NCAA at the University of New Hampshire. In his final year of college, Gare finished the 40 game season with 22 goals and 29 assists for 51 points.
In Gare's first 60 professional games he racked up 18 goals and 35 assists for 53 points with the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League. Gare turned some heads with his play and he was called up to the American Hockey League to play 9 games with the Hershey Bears.
The 6'1 195lbs Gare played 20 games in the ECHL last year, three with the Dayton Bombers in which he recorded a goal, and 17 games with the Fresno Falcons scoring five goals and seven assists for 12 points.
Gare comes from a strong hockey background, his father Ernie played seven seasons in the WIHL and his Uncle Danny played in the NHL from 1974-87. Gare joins nine forwards, five defensemen and one goalie that have been signed to the Salmon Kings 2005-06 roster.
