Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have agreed to terms on a contract with rookie forward Adam Kostichka for the upcoming 2005-06 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kostichka, 23, is the sixth rookie signing by RoadRunners General Manager and Head Coach Ron Filion. The Stevens Point, WI native played collegiate hockey in his hometown, attending the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he tallied 48 goals, 45 assists, and 93 points in 108 career games. A 2004-05 All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association First Team selection, Kostichka led the Pointers with 15 goals and finished third overall in scoring with 28 points. He signed a contract with the Fort Wayne Komets of the United Hockey League following his senior year and recorded two goals and four points in 14 regular season and playoff games, including the game-winner in the opening game of the 2005 Colonial Cup Playoffs against Missouri.

"Adam is a big, strong power forward with great balance for his size," said Filion. "He rarely gets knocked off the puck and has a terrific shot." Filion continued, "As a captain last year at Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Adam will also bring leadership to our team, which is always an extra benefit coming from a first-year player."

With the signing of Kostichka, the RoadRunners currently have 10 players under contract for the 2005-06 season with 46 days remaining until the beginning of training camp.

RoadRunners professional hockey returns to downtown Phoenix at 7PM on Saturday, October 22 when the Utah Grizzlies visit America West Arena in the ECHL season opener for both teams. Season tickets for all 36 home games are on sale now and start as low as $252. For more information, call (602) 462-GOAL or visit www.phxroadrunners.com.
