TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons open up an 11-game/10-day homestand with the continuation of a four-game home-and-home series with the Scranton/W-B Red Barons at Dunn Tire Park (2:05 p.m.). The Red Barons won the first two games of the set at Lackawanna County Stadium including a 5-4 victory last night. Scranton/W-B has now won six of their last eight games against the Bisons. Looking to snap that trend, the Herd will send RHP Fausto Carmona to the mound this afternoon. Carmona is coming off a complete-game loss on Monday where he allowed just one run on six hits in eight innings. Carmona will be up against RHP Chris Rojas. Rojas will be making his Red Barons debut today after going 11-5 with a 3.79ERA in 18 starts for Double-A Reading.

HOME AT LAST: The Bisons are back from their season-long 10-game road trip. The Herd went 5-5 on the trip, increasing their lead in the IL North division to five games (was four). Buffalo, who has not played a home game since July 10, will now start a season-long 11-game/10-day homestand. At 33-18, the Bisons have the best home record in the International League.

COMPLETE GAME: Pitcher Jeremy Guthrie threw the Bisons' third complete game of the year last night. Guthrie allowed five runs on eight hits in his eight innings of work. Ironically, the Herd is just 1-2 when their starter throws a complete-game. Last Monday, Fausto Carmona went the distance (8.0IP, 6H, 1R, 6K) but suffered the loss in a 1-0 defeat to the Clippers.

LOCKED IN: Slugger Jeff Liefer was on fire throughout the roadtrip. In nine games, he hit .367 (11-30) with five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 10RBI. He also drew nine walks and scored seven runs. Liefer is now fifth in the league in average (.321), 2nd in slugging percentage (.600) and 6th in on-base percentage (.389)

STREAKING AGAIN: Infielder Jake Gautreau has another nice hit streak going. He has hit in eight straight games, averaging .303 (10-33) with a double, a home run and five RBI. Gautreau already has hit streaks of 10 games (4/10-21(2), .314, 11-35) and nine games (5/7-16, .343, 12-35) this season.

RESTARTING: Outfielder Ryan Ludwick is starting to find his grove. Since the All-Star Break, Ludwick is hitting .346 (9-26) with two doubles, a home run, four RBI and six runs scored. He is also currently on a five-game hitting streak (.368, 7-19).
