Norfolk Tides News Release

Eric Junge hurled 6.0 shutout innings, and three Tides relievers helped keep Richmond scoreless as the Tides knocked off the Braves 1-0 Sunday night.

Junge (8-5) allowed just four hits in 6.0 innings, as the Tides improved to 9-3 this season against Richmond. The right-hander walked two and struck out eight in winning his third straight decision.

The Tides plated the only run of the game on a bizarre play in the bottom of the 4th inning. With one out, Brian Daubach on third base and Mike DiFelice on first, Eric Valent struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch. On the pitch, DiFelice attempted to steal, and was caught in a rundown between first and second base. DiFelice stayed in the rundown long enough for Daubach to score, as the Tides took a 1-0 lead.

Manny Aybar, Royce Ring and Tim Hamulack hurled the final 3.0 innings of the game from the Tides bullpen. Hamulack pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save of the season.

Kyle Davies (3-2) was the tough-luck loser for Richmond, as he allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out five in 6.0 innings of work.

The Tides finish off their four game home-and-home series with the Braves on Monday night at The Diamond in Richmond. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
