Norfolk, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 4-2 Saturday at Harbor Park. The Braves rebounded from early errors and a 2-0 deficit to win their sixth game in seven days.

Norfolk got on the board first as an Andy Marte error kept the inning alive and Mike DiFelice grounded out to first with the bases loaded scoring Eric Valent. Rodney Nye added a home run in the second, but that would be all Norfolk could muster against Richmond. The Braves brought a run home in the fourth as James Jurries, who struck out but reached base on a wild pitch, scored on a double by John Barnes cutting the lead to 2-1. The Braves tied the game on a double by Kerry Robinson and took the lead on a James Jurries RBI single in the fifth. The Braves added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Jurries to make it 4-2.

Adam Bernero picked up his second win in as many tries lasting five innings and allowing only one earned run. Brian Bannister took the loss for Norfolk despite striking out eight in seven innings. Jorge Vasquez earned his first save of the season. Tony Pena, Scott Thorman and Kerry Robinson had two hits each for the Braves. Eric Valent and Mike DiFelice had two hits each for the Tides. The Braves committed three errors for the second game in a row.

The Braves continue a four game home-and-home series with the Norfolk Tides Sunday at Harbor Park at 6:15 PM. Kyle Davies is scheduled to pitch for the Braves vs. Jose Santiago. The Braves return home July 25 vs. the Tides. For ticket information please call 804-359-4444 or visit the Braves on the web at www.rbraves.com.
