
Hartman and Gomez to participate in NEA's Read Across America program

CARSON, CA (Friday, July 01, 2005) - In support of the NEA and MLS' Get a Kick Out of Reading/Lee y Marca un Golazo, bilingual literacy program, Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and midfielder Herculez Gomez will be appearing at Kentia Hall in the L.A. Convention Center today.
Hartman, who serves as the Get A Kick Out Of Reading local spokesman, will be reading his own book Boots Saves The Day, written by him and illustrated by his wife Jennifer, at 1:30pm today in Kentia Hall. The Get A Kick Out Of Reading program, which is locally sponsored by Kohl's Department Store and Hormel, uses the sport of soccer to deliver positive messages about the value and fun of reading, to children and families.
As thousands of educators arrive in Los Angeles for the National Education Association (NEA) Annual Meeting, several hundred local students will don red-and-white-striped hats and roll out the red carpet for the annual NEA's Read Across America Read-In.

Two of the premier teams in Major League Soccer will meet on the grandest stage for the sport in the United States when the Los Angeles Galaxy hosts the New England Revolution on Monday, July 4 at 7 pm at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills.
In honor of our nation's independence day, fans will be treated to a majestic post-game fireworks spectacular (presented by The Daily Breeze and KBIG 104), with Rialto-based Pyro Spectaculars responsible for the production.
