June 13, 2005 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release
Washington Nationals second baseman Henry Mateo, who was placed on the Nationals DL May 15, 2005 with right shoulder tendinitis, will join the Potomac Nationals in Woodbridge, VA on a rehab assignment starting Monday June 13, 2005 as the P-Nats host the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
This season marks Mateo's fourth in the majors and fourth with the Montreal/Washington organization. He made his major league debut on July 28, 2001 with the Expos. Mateo had surgery on September 23, 2004 to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, which limited him to pinch-hitting and pinch running duties during the final weeks of the 2004 season. This season, Mateo played in one game with the Washington Nationals on May 13th before being placed on the DL two days later. He went 0-for-1 with a walk in the 3-6 loss to the Cubs. He holds a .242 career batting average with seven RBI, six doubles and two triples.
