Alexandre Picard called up by AHL\'s Philadelphia Phantoms

Halifax Mooseheads' General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today that Mooseheads' defenceman Alexandre Picard has been called up by the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

Picard, 19, drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (85 overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, will report immediately to the Phantoms, the Flyers AHL affiliate. The Phantoms open their best of seven AHL Eastern Conference Final against the Providence Bruins Friday night, with the first two games at home Friday and Saturday.

Picard, 19, totaled 38 points, 15 goals and 23 assists, with a plus 18 rating, in 68 games with the Mooseheads during the 2004-05 regular season. In 13 playoff games with Halifax this spring, Picard contributed six points, one goal and five assists, while playing at a plus 10 rating.
