Dumville named Sea Dogs Atlantic head scout

SAINT JOHN, May 18, 2005 – The Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league (QMJHL) have announced the appointment of Moncton Junior "A" Beavers head coach Troy Dumville as head scout for the Atlantic region and assistant general manager.

Over the past six years, Dumville has also served as co-ordinator of QMJHL Central Scouting for the Atlantic Provinces. In that role, he has helped league teams identify, assess and scout the most promising junior-age prospects within Atlantic Canada.

Sea Dogs general manager Bob "Tipper" LeBlanc said the addition of Dumville to his hockey staff is yet another piece of the puzzle as the expansion club prepares for the opening of training camp on August 12 and the start of the QMJHL regular season in mid-September.

"Troy brings to us coaching experience with young players at both high school and university levels and most recently with the Beavers of the Maritime Junior "A" Hockey League," said LeBlanc. "In addition, his past scouting experience on behalf of the Quebec Major Junior League will be very helpful in assessing talent during the upcoming player drafts."

Dumville's coaching resume dates back to 1997 when he became head coach of Harrison Trimble High School in Moncton. He held that position until 2002 when he assumed an assistant coaching position with the Université de Moncton. In 2002-03, Dumville became an assistant coach with the Beavers. He was named general manager of the Beavers in 2003 and head coach in 2004.

For the past five years, Dumville has operated Overtime Sports Hockey Camps in Moncton.

The expansion Saint John Sea Dogs first home exhibition game will occur at Harbour Station on August 19 when they play the Bathurst Titan. They are expected to open their inaugural QMJHL regular season on September 16 against the St. John's Fog Devils.

Sea Dogs season tickets are on sale at Harbour Station. Prices range from $280 to $543, depending on age and seat location.
