WEEKEND RECAP: The Barrie Colts erased any unpleasant memories from last week's three game losing streak as they posted their second perfect weekend of the season with three wins to improve the team's overall record to 26-21-7-2 with 61 points, as they are now just two points back of Sudbury for 5th in the conference with three games in hand.The club kicked things off Thursday when they broke a two game losing skid against Sudbury with a 2-1 victory at home.The game went scoreless for two full periods and then Rob Hisey (19) and Dan Speer (11) collected goals to put the home side up 2-0 before Sudbury cut the deficit with a third period goal of their own..Dan LaCosta made 17 saves and collected the win in goal for the home side.The Colts were back in action Saturday when they posted a 7-2 victory against the visiting Saginaw Spirit..Now 3-0 all-time at home against the Spirit, the game was tied after one and then the Colts opened the floodgates, and tied a season-high record by posting five goals during the second period..Ryan Hamilton (2g-2a) and Travis Fuller (2g) led the way offensively for the Colts, who improved their record at home to 18-8-0-2 on the season..Chris Morrison (2), Andrew Dennis (3) and Hunter Tremblay (26) also scored goals for Barrie, and Dan LaCosta made 24 saves in his third straight start in goal to improve his overall record to 21-9-3, including a 6-2-1 record with the Colts..The Colts capped off the weekend Sunday with a 4-1 road victory against the Eastern Conference leaders, Brampton Battalion.The Colts came out strong with a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Travis Fuller (18), B.J. Crombeen (25) and Hunter Tremblay (27).The Battalion got one back late in the second but the visitors' defence shut the door and Rob Hisey (20) added an empty-netter to seal the game..Francois Thuot was solid in goal and made 38 saves to improve his record to 15-12-4 on the season
LITTLE BREATHING ROOM: The Eastern Conference playoff picture is heating up moving into the final dozen games of the regular season schedule..Only eight points separates one through eight in the conference standings:

INCREASED PRODUCTION: After scoring five times throughout their previous three games, the Colts exploded for 13 goals over the weekend, as eight different players factored in with at least one goal.The club Saturday night tied a season-high mark of five goals in a period with five in the second versus Saginaw.Their previous high was five in the third period during an 8-4 victory November 13 versus Kingston...In addition, 17 different players recorded at least one point over the weekend which includes 12 players with at least one point in their victory over the Spirit
SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT: The Colts have not lost a Saturday night home game since prior to the Christmas break, with a 5-0 record that spans back to December 18 when they dropped a 6-5 home decision to the Ottawa 67's...The club was 4-4 before the break to give them a combined 9-4 record this season on Saturday night home games
GAME-WINNING GOAL LEADERS: B.J. Crombeen, in his first game back from a two game suspension, scored the game-winner Sunday to increase his team lead in this category to six on the season..Here is a list of current Colts with game-winning goals this season:

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Colts embark on another three game weekend that begins this Thursday with an important divisional battle at home against the Toronto St. Michael's Majors (26-25-4-2) at 7:30 p.m...Led by former Colts coach Bud Stefanski, the Majors have crept up into the playoff picture with a 12-2 record throughout their past 14 games as they sit in a tie for 7th place in the conference with 58 points, three back of Barrie....Barrie plays another home game this Saturday when Kingston (25-24-4-3) enters for a 7:30 p.m. visit, their second trip to the Molson Centre this season after the Colts doubled them up last time by a score of 8-4 on November 13.The club's weekend concludes with a Sunday afternoon tilt (2:05 p.m.-LIVE Webcast) in Oshawa when they face-off against the struggling Generals (13-40-3-1)
ROSTER UPDATE: Second year centre and third leading point-getter Bryan Little is currently listed as day-to-day and missed two games over the weekend after he suffered an upper body injury in Thursday's 2-1 victory versus Sudbury..Rookie Jordan Shine returned to the lineup Saturday after he missed two games with an injury to his hand..Defenceman Michael Root is also listed as day-to-day and missed Barrie's last two games with an upper body injury..B.J. Crombeen Sunday returned to action and recorded two points (1g-1a) after he sat out two games with a suspension, and centre Matthew Bragg joined the club's full-time roster on February 22 after his regular team, the Couchiching Terriers Jr. A club was eliminated from the playoffs on Monday.
