LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Monday, November 15, 2004) - Club Deportivo Chivas USA on Monday launched "ChivaGirls," an innovative new project that will pick a team of bilingual Latina women to serve as community ambassadors for Major League Soccer's new team. Chivas USA is seeking applications from women between 21 and 28 years old who speak both Spanish and English to represent the Mexican-owned soccer club. The 15 members of the team, to be divided into ten starters and five replacements, will be picked by a celebrity panel on December 11th in Los Angeles' famous Conga Room nightclub.

"Women are an integral part of our fan base in the United States and through ChivaGirls they will be represented in all of our club's events. The ChivaGirls will be our ambassadors in the community and we are very proud to form this project," said Antonio Cué, President of Club Deportivo Chivas USA.

Women between 21 and 28 years old who wish to try out for this select team can download the ChivaGirls application at www.CDCHIVASUSA.com, the official Web site of Club Deportivo Chivas USA. A printed version can also be picked up at the Security Desk of The Home Depot Center in Carson or at Chivas USA's temporary offices in Los Angeles.

"ChivaGirls is another example of the importance of our commitment to the Latin American community in the United States," said Whit Haskel, Vice President and General Manager of Chivas USA. "By forming a select team of bilingual Latina women who will represent our club with pride, we have established a program of great significance not only in sporting terms, but also linguistically and culturally."

Aspiring ChivaGirls must fulfill a series of requirements. They must be able to speak both Spanish and English, should have experience in community service, be able to travel, and possess good public speaking skills, physical conditioning and have experience in dance, choreography and runway. Candidates must be between 21 and 28 years old, weigh between 110 and 135 pounds and be 5'4" or taller in height. These requirements and more information are available in the application and in the Web site www.CDCHIVASUSA.com.

The director of ChivaGirls will be Nayzeth Carrillo, a native of Guadalajara, former Miss México Los Angeles and current resident of the Los Angeles area who since the age of 16 has worked in beauty contests and television in Southern California.

"Beyond the commitment of Chivas USA to the community, the purpose of this project is to highlight the ability and beauty of the Latin American woman in the United States," said Carrillo. "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work together with the fifteen representatives of this project in order to achieve this goal."

The selection process will reach its dramatic conclusion during the final audition on Saturday, December 11th in the famous Conga Room nightclub of Los Angeles, where a celebrity panel will pick the final members of the ChivaGirls team. Although there will be no cost to submit the application, candidates chosen to participate in the December 11th audition will have to pay an application fee of $30, which will include membership in ChivaSocio, the official social club of Chivas USA.
