October 22, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kansas City Outlaws News Release
(Kansas City, MO --- October 22, 2004) â Kansas City Outlaws General Manager Joe Bucchino announced on Friday that defenseman Matthieu Descoteaux has signed with the undefeated (2-0) Kansas City expansion franchise. Descoteaux, a #19 overall first round selection by Edmonton Oilers in 1996 will be an active player beginning tonight in Fraser, Michigan against the Motor City Mechanics at 6 p.m., which is available on the radio on 1340 KCKN or through free live audio webcast at www.kansascityoutlaws.com.
Descoteaux joins left winger Jason Ruff as the second Outlaw with NHL experience. The addition makes the Outlaws roster at 23 players with 20 active players, as centers Rob Schweyer and Derek Kern and defensemen Zbynek Tuma are on the injured reserve for a minimum of the next three games (tonight at 6 p.m. at Motor City; Saturday at 7 p.m. at Muskegon; Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at Port Huron).
"Descoteaux will be a tremendous addition to the Kansas City Outlaws," said Outlaws General Manager Joe Bucchino. "His experience in the NHL and the AHL will benefit our team on the ice as a defenseman and in the locker room as a leader for our less experienced players."
