Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB – Every team wants a wide receiver with speed and size. That's exactly what the Winnipeg Blue Bombers got today when they signed Ramondo North.

North (6-0, 194, North Carolina A&T State '00, DOB: Mar. 30, 1977 in Charlotte, NC) is an NFL and NFL-Europe veteran who has a Super Bowl ring to his credit as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

North is a receiver with very good speed who can separate easily from defenders. He runs good routes and can be a solid blocker when called upon.

"He's a good player," said Brendan Taman, general manager & vice-president of football operations for the Big Blue. "He is a legitimate candidate to make our team and a legitimate threat to opposing defences. He has good size, and with his speed, he has the prototypical style of a good CFL receiver."

THE NFL YEARS – 2001-2003

North first signed with the Cincinnati Bengals Apr. 24, 2001 as an undrafted rookie free agent. He attended the Bengals training camp but was released.

The Chicago Bears added North to their practice roster for two weeks, beginning Dec. 13, 2001. The Jacksonville Jaguars then added him to their practice roster Dec. 26, 2001.

The Oakland Raiders signed him Sept. 18, 2002. After his release from Oakland Sept. 24, 2002, North rejoined the Jaguars practice squad Oct. 29, 2002. The San Diego Chargers then signed him Nov. 27, 2002.

North then joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their playoff run Jan. 11, 2003. The Bucs added him to their active roster, where he remained until his release Apr. 28, 2003.

North was a member of the Bucs when they won Super Bowl XXXVII (Tampa Bay vs. Oakland @ San Diego, Jan. 26, 2003).

THE NFL-EUROPE YEARS – 2002 – BERLIN THUNDER

The Chicago Bears allocated North to the Berlin Thunder of NFL-Europe for the 2002 season. With the Thunder, North excelled, catching 23 passes for 261 yards and an 11.3-yard average. He added 19 kickoff returns for 340 yards for the World Bowl Champions.

He became only the 14th player to take home both World Bowl and Super Bowl rings.
