New York Red Bulls News Release
Metros Return To MLS Action: The MetroStars host the Los Angeles Galaxy this upcoming Saturday, June 15 at Giants Stadium with kick off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (taped-delayed on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m. ET).
The meeting will be the first between both clubs dating back to their playoff series last September (2001), in which the Galaxy won five points to four to advance to the semifinals of the 2001 MLS Cup. Tickets are available at all local Ticketmaster outlets, at the Continental Airlines Arena box office, at www.MetroStars.com and by calling 1-888-4-METROTIX.
The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a free MetroStars poster, courtesy of MILO. Other events planned for Saturday include an appearance by Nickelodeon TV character Hey Arnold!, and a special post-game radio show from the Giants Stadium Gate D parking lot (6:00 p.m. â 7:00 p.m. ET) by ESPN Radio.
PLEASE NOTE-Practice Schedule Change: The team will hold training sessions Tuesday through Friday of this week, beginning each day at the revised time of 3:00 p.m. ET.
Mathis Scores In U.S. Draw With South Korea: Clint Mathis scored the U.S. goal in the 1-1 tie early this morning with South Korea in a Group D match played in Daegu. The tie keeps the Americans in a first place tie at the top of the Group D standings with co-hosts South Korea at four points. Portugal, who routed Poland, 4-0, is in third place with three points.
The U.S. plays struggling Poland (ESPN-TV), while South Korea hosts Portugal (ESPN2-TV) on Friday, June 14 at 7:30 a.m. ET to complete Group D action. Only two teams in the group will advance to the next round.
More International Games Coming To Giants Stadium: MetroStars President/General Manager Nick Sakiewicz announced today that the team will host legendary Argentinean club team Boca Juniors in a stand-alone international friendly game at Giants Stadium next Wednesday, June 19 at 7:45 p.m. ET.
In addition, the team has also announced that top Colombian club teams Atletico Nacional and Independiente Medellin will face each other in an international club friendly at Giants Stadium on Wednesday, June 26, kicking off immediately following the MetroStars game against all-time Colombian great Carlos Valderrama and the Colorado Rapids at 7:30 p.m. ET.

MetroStars Win In Albany (NY): The MetroStars defeated the Cape Cod Crusaders (PDL), 3-0, in an exhibition game this past Saturday played on the campus of Christian Brothers Academy Stadium in the Albany suburb of Colonie, New York.
Mamadou Diallo and Andy Williams combined to score three goals in the exhibition win, which marked the team's first appearance in the capital district region. The MetroStars fielded their entire first team with the addition of several reserve team members enabling head coach Octavio Zambrano to observe the progress of the reserve team members in play.

MetroStars To Face Chivas: The MetroStars will face Mexican club Chivas of Guadalajara at Giants Stadium in an international club friendly on Wednesday, August 14, at 8:00 p.m. ET. Chivas of Guadalajara have won 10 championships in the Mexican League. They are renown for their major fan base in Mexico, and for using only Mexican players on their team.
