Zorros Announce International Friendly against Mexico's Club Leon

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Football Club, of the United Soccer League, is proud to announce that Los Zorros will square off against seven-time Liga MX champion Club León in an International Friendly set for Wednesday, November 14th at Chukchansi Park, presented by Jack In The Box.

Club León, out of León, Guanajuato in central Mexico, plays in the top division of the Mexican Football Federation and plays its home matches at Estadio León. León, which also goes by the nickname La Fiera (The Beast), last lifted the trophy in 2014 when it became just the second club to win back-to-back league titles following the 2014 Clausura (Fall) tournament.

"I'm delighted for the club and our players to be able to face a storied Mexican club in León," said Fresno FC general manager Frank Yallop. "This match is a great opportunity for our players to get a game against top international competition featuring some of the best players in the region. It will be a real treat for our fans to see this top level of talent this late into the year."

This will be the second international friendly for Los Zorros, who will also face Vancouver Whitecaps FC reserves in an exhibition set for Wednesday, September 5th.

It is Club León's first visit to Fresno since October 2016, when it played Las Chivas de Guadalajara in front of 15,000 fans at Chukchansi Park. Recently, León made international news in the spring when it signed U.S. superstar Landon Donovan to a short-term contract for the 2018 Apertura (Spring) tournament. The club is managed by former Uruguayan professional soccer player Gustavo "Chavo" Diaz, who is in his first season leading the club. Other notable players for Club León are Mexican national team midfielder Luis "El Chapo" Montes, defender Fernando Navarro, U.S. national team goalkeeper William Yarbrough and Argentine forward Mauro Boselli, who is the club's second all-time leading scorer with 110 goals across all competitions. Boselli is the club's second all-time leading scorer with 110 goals across all competitions - 16 away from the all-time record held by Adalberto "El Dumbo" Lopez

Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, August 31st at 10 a.m. PT. Fans are invited to experience Fresno FC's International friendly match against Club León by purchasing tickets at the Chukchansi Park Box Office and online via tickets.fresnofc.com. The match is included in all 2018 Fresno FC season ticket packages. Season ticket holders who wish to purchase additional tickets at their discounted rate will have the option to buy presale starting Thursday, August 30th at 9 a.m. PT. A presale password will be emailed out all Season Ticket holders or can be obtained by calling the front office at 559-320-2525.
