FC Cincinnati Launching Comprehensive Fan Survey Initiative
August 29, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - As FC Cincinnati continues its march to the end of its United Soccer League (USL) identity and towards its future home in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2019, the club is asking its fans for input as it begins to formalize its MLS plans and strategies.
After three seasons in the USL, FC Cincinnati will enter MLS in 2019 as the league's 24th club. Additionally, FCC is in the planning and design stage of a $200M+ stadium in the historic West End neighborhood in downtown Cincinnati. The new stadium is expected to open for the 2021 MLS season as FC Cincinnati will play in its current home - Nippert Stadium, on the campus of the University of Cincinnati - for the next two years in 2019 and 2020.
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 30, all fans who have previously purchased tickets through FC Cincinnati will receive an email with a link to an online survey from FCC and sports-data giant Two Circles. It will be the start of an on-going, long-term initiative intended to more fully cater to the FC Cincinnati fan base in the next few seasons.
The first survey will be a unique opportunity for FCC fans to provide feedback and insights into potential initiatives at the new stadium, and help gauge opinions on - and demand for - various seating and hospitality options, as well as the game day atmosphere.
A full survey is expected to take 10-15 minutes to complete.
"From the beginning, we've strived to be a club that not just listened to its fans, but also heard what they said," Jeff Smith, Vice President of Ticket Sales and Service, said. "As we move into the club's next stage in MLS, we want to know exactly what our fans are thinking and what their opinions are on a variety of topics.
"With us moving to a new league and building a downtown stadium, we want to make sure we're getting a comprehensive look at what our fans want and hope for out of these moves. We're encouraging all of our fans to use this opportunity to tell us what they think, where they believe we're doing things well and where they think we can improve," Smith continued.
Currently in the season ticket renewals phase of 2019 ticket sales, FC Cincinnati has renewed more than 11,000 season tickets of its current 18,000 base. That figure does not include the 1,100-plus new season ticket accounts that have already been opened for 2019, which are anticipated to represent several thousand actual season tickets.
This season, FC Cincinnati is averaging 25,194 fans per game at Nippert Stadium - the most in the USL. The club's average also represents the fourth-highest per-game mark in the U.S. and Canadian professional soccer, behind MLS' Atlanta United FC (50,863), Seattle Sounders FC (40,804) and Toronto FC (26,762).
On Aug. 18, FC Cincinnati broke its own USL record for single-season total attendance with three regular-season home games still remaining. Through 14 home games, FCC has welcomed 352,709 fans to Nippert Stadium, breaking its old mark of 339,181 in 17 games.
First-place FC Cincinnati (17-3-6, 57 pts.) returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 1, when the Orange and Blue host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Nippert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the game will be televised live on WSTR 64, carried live on The Project 100.7 FM and also streamed live on ESPN+. FC Cincinnati currently has an 11-point lead in the Eastern Conference over second-place Louisville (46 pts.).
