Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Over the years, many have tried to invade Shaw Park, but none have been as relentless as the living dead who return to the downtown ballpark for Zombie Night on Saturday, August 31st.
Presented by Heebie Jeebies and 103.1 Virgin Radio, the fifth annual Zombie Night begins at 6:05 p.m. Following the game, fans can enjoy the final fireworks show of the season, presented by Archangel Fireworks.
Fans can arrive early and enjoy an amazing array of characters on the Promenade outside the main gates, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Terrifying characters like you've never seen before will be on hand for scares, photos, and screams. Fans wearing their best zombie costumes and makeup will be eligible to win great prizes.
"The pre-game haunts on the Promenade will be truly terrifying," said Tim Muys of Heebie Jeebies. "Expect fog, special effects and more! It's not for the faint of heart and there's nothing like it in Winnipeg. None of our actors will touch you. They don't need to. Trust me, you'll be scared. Come catch a preview of what our Halloween event will be like this fall."
Winnipeg Harvest volunteers will be at the ballpark collecting food and monetary donations. Peak of the Market Growers will match all food donations to Winnipeg Harvest, pound-for-pound, with fresh Manitoba vegetables.
"We know how many zombies over-ran the ballpark in previous years, so Virgin Radio had to get involved again this season and be part of the great event again," said Virgin Radio host Ace Burpee. "We're thankful that fans will bring a tin for Winnipeg Harvest to build our reserves for the complete zombie apocalypse."
Makeup artists from "A Maze in Corn" will be on hand to apply zombie makeup to ensure that everyone blends in with the real zombies.
Goldeyes players will wear zombie Jerseys, while zombie-themed food and beverages will be available at select concessions throughout the concourse. Fans can also participate in a Zombie Night Scavenger Hunt.
"As a family-friendly experience, I am amazed to see the number of zombie families that continue to make Goldeyes Zombie Night a game for the whole herd including the young ones! We look forward to another great night this time around," said Dan Chase, Goldeyes Director of Sales and Marketing.
Tickets for Zombie Night on August 31st are on sale now at www.goldeyes.com/tickets or by visiting the box office at Shaw Park.
