ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana- Starting pitcher Ryan Zimmerman dominated the ball game, pitching seven strong innings and striking out seven as the Alexandria Aces (3-4) beat RGV (2-5) 5-1 Thursday night at Bringhurst Field.

Aces, Austin Newell led off the fifth inning with an error at shortstop, followed by Nick Mahin's single advancing Newell to third. With one out Ryan Gasporra smashed a two run RBI triple giving the Aces a 4-1 lead.

RGV's starter Ray Hanson took his second loss of the year (0-2). Hanson went six innings allowing seven hits and four runs.

Ace's starter Ryan Zimmerman collected his first win of the year (1-0) going seven strong innings and striking out seven, Zimmerman now has 17 strikeouts on the year.

RGV struggled at the plate, with only four hits and one run Thomas Shull collected the lone RBI for RGV scoring Albert Carpen in the sixth inning.

The series ends tomorrow as RGV sends AJ Smouse to the mound; this is Smouse's first start of the season. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
