San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- Shortstop Danny Hernandez scored on a bases-loaded, hit by pitch delivered to designated hitter Kyle Nichols to give the Colts' a walk-off, 5-4 win over the Edinburg Roadrunners Thursday night at Foster Field.
Hernandez led the bottom of the ninth inning off with a double, and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by third baseman Steve Rinaudo. Second baseman Jon Dziomba followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners with one out.
Edinburg reliever Taylor Reid opted to intentionally walk right fielder Mike Mobbs to load the bases, and face Nichols. The move backfired, as Reid hit Nichols in the back, allowing Hernandez to score from third. Nichols was credited with the game-winning RBI.
Reid (0-1) took the loss, pitching 1 1/3 innings, and surrendering the winning run. Colts' starter Adam Rowe (2-0) earned a complete-game victory. He gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out eight batters.
The win moves the Colts back up over .500 at 4-3, while the loss drops the Roadrunners to 2-5. The finale of this four-game series is Friday night at Foster Field.
The first 500 fans through the front gates will receive a Colts' Spring Training Cap. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 14th season. For more information or to purchase season tickets, contact the Colts' front office at 94-COLTS.
